Orel State University at the Science Festival of Southwestern Russia in Belgorod

September 20-22, 2018, the delegation of Orel State University named after I. S. Turgenev took part in the Science Festival of Southwestern Russia in Belgorod. The Science Festival was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Moscow State University and the government of Belgorod region.

The Festival was attended by leading Russian scientists, well-known popularizers of science. Lectures were given on the main scientific ideas of our age. The exhibition and congress complex "Belexpocentr" was the venue of the interactive exhibition, where the developments of scientists of Central Black Earth Region were presented. At the exhibition Engineers Cup, installations, large-scale Tesla show and Cryo show were held.

The University delegation was presented by: Alexander Koskin, Director of the Department of Informatization and Development, Vladimir Prokokhin, Director of the Project Office, Andrey Dunaev, Director of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics, Irina Makovik, researcher of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics, Igor Kozlov, a trainee researcher of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics.

Scientists of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics of the Flagship University have created an interactive atmosphere of Science Festival building its exposition step by step

  • for preschool children (0+): entertaining and exciting experiments, optical illusions, educational lessons in the field of natural phenomena and the action of physical laws
  • for school students: three-dimensional holograms, Board game "Laser Pharaoh" based on optical principles and logic, spectral analysis of chemical liquids using the equipment of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics; 
  • for students, postgraduates, scientists and visitors: non-invasive diagnostics of blood microcirculation using the methods of biophotonics (laser Doppler flowmetry, fluorescence spectroscopy).

It is hard to convey in words how admired the guests and participants of interactive activities persons were, although the photos show their sincere interest in the exposition of the University.

A natural result was the growth of interest in the University from potential applicants, scientists and colleagues from Belgorod, which gives prospects for joint projects, exchange of experience and organization of research activities and strengthening the impact on the popularity of science and technology in the region.
