Results of SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship competition in 2019

Students actively engaged in research and educational work in Orel State University SPIE Student Chapter (based on Research and Development  Center of Biomedical Photonics) – PhD student in Industrial Chemistry and Biotechnology Maria Filina, PhD in Photonics, Instrumentation, Optical and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies Olga Stelmashchuk and bachelor student in Instrumentation Yulia Loktionova – have won 2019 SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship (in total 11 scholarships were awarded to Russian students this year).

 

          

 

In addition, Gennadii Piavchenko, continuing his research on behavioral neuromorphology and applied pharmacology combined with biophotonics, was awarded John Kiel Scholarship for his potential contribution to optics and photonics (Gennadii Piavchenko is the only Russian who has won this scholarship ever).

 

 

This scholarship achieving became possible thanks to the activities of Orel State University SPIE Student Chapter, working in our university for more than 2 years. Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding students for their contribution to optics, photonics or related fields of science. The scholarship covers the costs of training, books, participation in SPIE conferences, research activities and other expenses related to education.
