The implementation of the "megagrant" in conditions of the coronavirus epidemic
In conditions of the epidemic coronavirus infection and all difficulties in connection with it (the inability to visit the leading scientist and staff travel to his laboratory), the Сell physiology and pathology laboratory is actively continuing execution of the "megagrant" "Mitochondria as targets in the mechanism of neurodegenerative diseases" in remote mode.
Employees of the laboratory perform all their tasks using modern video broadcasting technologies and conduct regular communication in video-chats, conduct online-seminars with the discussion of current scientific results and details of upcoming works, as well as weekly online lectures by the head of the Сell physiology and pathology laboratory – Professor, Sc.D., Ph.D., Andrey Abramov. So, at the moment, 4 lectures on the subject of the project have already been held:
- April 14, 2020 "Features of the nervous system. Bioenergetics of brain cells";
- April 17, 2020 "Catecholamines";
- April 24, 2020 "Calcium signal in neurons and astrocytes";
- April 30, 2020 "Methods for studying the parameters of mitochondria functioning".
This course of lectures, conducted during the period of self-isolation of employees, is aimed at obtaining a full range of necessary information in the field of the latest scientific achievements, as well as advanced foreign and domestic experience in the field of cell bioenergetics, neurology and neurodegenerative diseases.
Besides, at this stage, the purchase of all necessary equipment is being completed according to the schedule and its installation and launch are planned in the summer. Over the past period (from December 2019), the project has already published one article in the publication "Nature", as well as a report on the XIth All-Russian Congress of young scientists.
